Steve and I decided to spend a very low key New Years day. We watched some football, napped and such. Late in the afternoon we decided to watch a movie, "The Dark Knight". About 2/3 through the movie there was a knock at our door. It was Elise Crisp.
Elise and Steve Crisp lived next door to us for six years and now have lived in Lexington, KY for nearly five years. They were in town visiting family had a babysitter for their beautiful daughter, Jayna, and stopped by the old neighborhood to see what was going on. What a great surprise.
We briefly caught up a bit. They were on their way to dinner. We recommended Wahoo!. We also recommended they drop back by after dinner. It was agreed we would eventually make our way to Trackside Tavern(this link is someone's myspace page with pictures of the Tavern).
After catching up at our house we made our way to Trackside. Elise taught high school literature at Avondale Estates and Trackside was her favorite haunt. We played some pool and played the juke box. It was a lot of fun.
I know it is cliché, but it is true, you can not under estimate the value of a good neighbor. I have attached some pictures of Elise and Jayna from the website Elise maintains. Jayna is the girl off the horse.
