Race Day July

ME: "There is a 5K race at Lake Blackshire in Cordele in July. We can visit Mom and Dad and run our July race."
STEVE: "July, in Cordele? It will be 90F at 7am."
ME: "At least it will be flat"

So, we decided to run a 5K race in mid-July in Cordele, GA. The week before the race it was 80F at 7am. The race would be scheduled to start at 7:30am. As fate would have it, it was a fabulous weekend. The weather was very, very nice. We had the added benefit of an excellent support staff. Mom and Dad endured rising before the sun and holding all of our stuff while we ran. They also acted as race photographers. We had a great visit.

I have hoped to break 24 minutes in a 5K. I came really close this time at 24:03 or 24.04 - official results will be posted this evening. I did win first place in my age group and received a gold medal.

Steve ran in 26:57 or 26:59. Great improvement for Steve. February race time was 29:41. March race time was 28:14.

The lamp post that looks a little fuzzy is covered in may flies. They were everywhere - on the boats, in the trees, in your hair, etc... Great fishing.
