Home Improvements

When we were renovating our house we decided to strip the paint off the fireplace in our living room. It was painted when we purchased the house. It was very hard work because it had layers and layers of paint. The first coat on the brick appeared to be spray paint in silver. Once complete it looked great. Steve muttered at the time, we should probably do the other two fireplaces. We did not have time because the contractor was ready to move along with the renovation.

Move ahead to a couple of weeks ago and Steve and I have decided we want to paint the living room a study a different color. Steve said "we should see what the brick looks like under the paint and see if it is worth stripping". By we Steve meant me. So I did a test spot using the new improved, environment friendly, Peel Away. The fireplace in the study looks like the one in the living room.

Today, I began the process of stripping the fireplace. Here it is waiting the 24 hours it takes for the chemicals to work. More to come.
